Luke 21 1-3

3. As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. “I Tell you the truth,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others.
4. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”

By Generous, it means to give up something so much, where you don’t expect anything or at least the equal value in return. This verse really hits home when it comes to the difference between giving and being generous.  As children of God, we must realize the difference between these two.  We are familiar with the giving, but the real question are you being generous. In this passage, the wealthy gave, but they gave out of their pockets but not from their bank account. To be more specific, they are giving around 10%. As we read, we see a women that is not only poor, but also a widow, giving up 100%. Generous can be a really hard to thing to do  in our own lives, sometimes we overlook it, and conform with the 10% rule.  Not only the widow just went through a loss of her husband, but during hardest part of her life, she gave up. The best thing about this is, Jesus took notice.

It’s understandable in tough times like today, its hard to give.  But the generosity is not limited to money. You can be generous by giving up your time , energy and  talents.

As  children , we must remember to be humble and generous. God has imprinted the trait of being generous to all of his children. Remember God has made you in his own image, so being a humble and generous is part of who you are. Its imprinted in your heart, it does not go away. Unless if you hide it.  So if  we are not generous  and humble in our own life, we are not allowing his light to shine. And that is not his purpose.

We must remember, all the good things you have in life, is not because you earned it. It exist because he gave.
Because he loves you and cares for you and he wants you to be happy.

I want you to take  the next 1 minute, and reexamine your own lives. If you believe you are humble and generous, good for you. But if you believe, you lack in either of these. I have good news for you,  in the Bible it says Gods mercy is new every morning.   Once you are done with the self examination, I want to pray for you guys and myself, especially for the youth. We go through so much in our lives, we tend to forget and overlook of being humble and generous. When I pray , pray with me and ask God if you can experience and live   life of humbleness  and generous.
